Khaemhese

Khaemhese, architect of the V Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, 2300 BC. C. Khaemhese was buried in a tomb in Saqqara, where his wife and his little son were also commemorated. He was the royal architect and the chief of sculptors.

A beautiful statue shows him wearing a small mustache, something unusual in the fashion of the IV Dynasty.

The high quality of his images is probably a consequence of his access to the best talents available among the sculptors of the time. Most of his works have been preserved with their original, living color.
