The Public Services Authority of the Republic of Panama (ASEP) is the regulator of public services in Panama.
It is the body that regulates everything that concerns telecommunications, electricity, water and sewage, as well as radio and television.
Law 26 of January 29, 1996 "By which the Public Services Regulatory Entity is created", is the constitutive law of the entity. Establishes the legal powers assigned to the entity for the fulfillment of its obligations. This law defines the fundamental purposes for which this entity was created, the guidelines for its organization and, in general, establishes the framework of action in which this institution should operate. Law 26 of 1996 is complemented by sectoral laws, which specifically establish the regulation that must be applied to companies that provide services in each of the sectors that regulates the entity.
