Input Management

Input management refers to the automated management of documents received by a company with software and scanning equipment.

Input management is the automatic archiving of an electronic copy of the received documents by indexing them into a database. Indexing is used to provide "criteria" (ranking categories) with "indexes". Indexes, which can be dates, numeric values, alphanumeric values (texts) are collected in the document itself by the software.

When this received document is a printout, the information is captured (after scanning by a scanner) by Automatic Document Recognition (RAD) or Automatic Document Reading (ADL) processes that rely on OCR technologies (Optical Character Recognition)

The aim of this automation is to quickly inform the information system and in particular the management software (ERP, PGI, business applications) about the presence of documents received and to start processing (human validation, seizures, actions to be undertaken) with a workflow. Using indexes, received documents can be called by management applications to be viewed in PDF format or grouped by cross-searches. Archived and indexed documents are more generally managed by EDM software (electronic document management).

According to a study published by MARKESS International in October 2008 on enterprise content management, scanning and digitizing incoming documents in paper format is one of the main expectations of companies with regard to business management solutions. content. edit code
