Form of organization of the body of vascular plants. It is a structure differentiated into tissues that are organized into two organs: root and stem. The stem can usually be differentiated in stem and leaves. Each organ has a different function: the root has the function of absorbing water and salts, the stem has the function of photosynthesizing. If the stem is differentiated in stem and leaves, the stem has the function of support. A system of vascular bundles links the root and the stem, bringing water and salts to the stem through the xylem, and bringing the products of photosynthesis to the roots through the phloem.
