Neurotic boredom

Neurotic boredom is a term used in psychoanalysis by authors like Otto Fenichel.

According to psychoanalytic theories, there is a disappearance of the drive goal, which results in the onset of neurotic boredom. After this, the boring person looks for an object that will help him find the goal he lacks. He knows he wants something, but he does not know what, since he has no goal.

Unlike apathy, in neurotic boredom there are symptoms of restlessness, tension and even irritability. Bibliography
