A superbike is a type of motorcycle used in motorcycling speed competitions, including the World Superbike Championship and the World Endurance Motorcycle Championship. Unlike the motorcycles used in the Motorcycling World Championship, superbikes must be models derived from the series. This makes them less expensive to develop and maintain, which is why several national speed motorcycling championships compete with them.

In order for motorcycle brands to use their motorcycles in the championships, they must first homologate them and sell a certain number of units to the public. According to the championship, the modification of suspensions, brakes and wheels is allowed. The engines are high displacement: between 850 and 1200 cc for two-cylinder engines, and between 750 and 1000 cc for the four-cylinder. Until the mid-1990s, two-stroke engines were also allowed instead of four times, in this case up to 500 cc displacement. Superbikes Championships
