SV Gloggnitz


SV Gloggnitz is an Austrian football club from Gloggnitz in the state of Lower Austria. History

The Sportvereinigung Gloggnitz was founded in 1922 with blue and white club colors. Highlight in the history of the title in the Landesliga Niederösterreich in the season 1948/49 which allowed the club to promote the highest class. For the races against giants Rapid Wien and Austria Wien, 10000 spectators watched in the Alpenstadion. With only four wins and three equal games, however, the club could not secure the retirement and immediately declined, only Slovan Wien and SC Rapid Oberlaa did it worse this season. After two seasons in the second class (which had just been introduced), the club descended to the Landesliga, which was only the third grade. In the sixties, the club played a few seasons under the name ASK Gloggnitz in the second class (Regionalliga Ost before moving all the way to the lowest class. In the summer of 1971 the club merged with another club from Gloggnitz and became ASK SV FEZ Gloggnitz, who later took the name SV Gloggnitz. In 1982/83 the club again played in the highest class of Lower Austria but declined again after one season, after which the club played 15 years in the 2. Landesliga. >
