Laira is a fictional character of the DC Universe. It was a Green Lantern of the planet Jayd. History
Laira was recruited and trained by her father to replace him as a soldier of the Guardians of the Universe. She was named as a ring bearer after the disappearance of her father Yeizon Izasa, and it was thus that she discovered that he had become a tyrant in X'ol. After fighting Omato and defeating him, she refused to take his life, then Omato chose to take it off himself. The Guardians asked him to defend Oa from the invasion of Hal Jordan. During the battle, she was defeated and left for dead.
In Green Lantern (vol.4) No. 11 (June 2006), Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner discovered that Laira was a prisoner of the Manhunters, along with Kreon, Tomar-Tu and others who had recently escaped to kill to Jordan for revenge.
In Green Lantern (vol.4) No. 26 (February 2008), Laira killed Amon Sur for the massacre of Ke'Haan's family. She was prosecuted for the murder, although Laira is convinced that she acted within the justice system. After being convicted and expelled from the Green Lantern Corps, Hannu escorted her back to her planet, Jayd, when a red ring attacked the ship and chose Laira as her carrier. With this, Laira became the second person to become a Red Lantern.
Unfortunately it would not last long since in Green Lantern V4 # 37 while Hal Jordan and Saint Walker (the first Blue Lantern) were in Ymault to rescue Sinestro from the Red Lantern Corps they fell into an ambush by the latter as well. that the members of the Sinestro Corps appeared, returning their ring to Sinestro; There Hal faced Laira. Hal achieved for a few moments that Laira was aware again and she asked him to rescue her but Sinestro shot her in the back killing her.
