The Painter of Achilles (V century BC) was a Greek plastic artist whose decoration of ceramic vessels is known. It is called like this because it is attributed to a painting that decorates an amphora and represents Achilles and Briseida.

He lived in Athens during the time of Pericles, and was a contemporary of Phidias. His vase of Achilles (ca. 450 a.C.) is among the finest preserved examples of ceramic red figures of the classical period.

The Achilles Painter is also known for his lecitos, funerary jugs with colored figures on a white background that are considered the highest reliable legacy of monumental Greek painting. More than 200 authentic vessels have been attributed to the painter of Achilles.
