Salem Hospital

Salem Hospital is a former Christian-based hospital in Ermelo, which was used until 1987. The hospital was established in the nineteenth century and was the only Protestant hospital in the Harderwijk region, and would remain until 1959 when Sanatorium Sonnevanck in Harderwijk opened the Boerhaave Hospital in its main building.

In the heart of Harderwijk itself, since the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Roman Catholic Pius Hospital was situated in the middle of the Old Town. Pius, Boerhaave and Salem were merged to the regional hospital of Sint Jansdal on 1 January 1976. In June 1987, the new building was involved in the Harderwijk district of Stadsweiden.

When the hospital disappeared from Ermelo, the name Salem was added to the newly established Foundation General Christian Asthma Trade Center. This rehabilitation clinic is currently located at the Zorgpark Salem, which is also surrounded by the Willem Holtrop Hospice, a health center, Speulder daycare and a dental practice. 52° 18′ 19″ NB, 5° 37′ 21″ OL
