Square of Spain

The Plaza de España (designated Plaza España until 1979, Plaza de España) is an existing square in Lisbon, encompassed by the parishes of Campolide, Nossa Senhora de Fátima and São Domingos de Benfica.

Next is the famous Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, an important cultural center of the Portuguese capital, as well as Palácio de Palhavã, residence of the ambassador of Spain.

In 1998, the Arco de São Bento was reconstructed in the plaza, an arch formerly integrated into the Esperança Gallery of the Aqueduto das Águas Livres and which had been removed from its place of origin on the Rua de São Bento.

The square is connected by the Praça de Espanha metro station, and from there the vehicles can march to the south bank of the Tagus River.
