Volunteer Jam


Charlie Daniels, creator of Volunteer Jam The Volunteer Jam was a series of annual concerts by the band Charlie Daniels Band, beginning on October 4, 1974, at the "War Memorial Auditorium" in the city of Nashville, Tennessee, United States. From there, the concert became a tradition.

The second Volunteer Jam was released in film format. It was denominated like "First film of the southern rock" even arriving to appear in theaters in the United States. The film was reissued in DVD format in 2007. Artists and bands participating in the jam include George McCorkle, Jimmy Hall, Dickey Betts, Henry Paul, Dobie Gray, Toy Caldwell, among others.

In 1979, Lynyrd Skynyrd met for the first time since the 1977 crash, with members of the Charlie Daniels Band. The band's keyboardist, Joel DiGregorio, took care of the voices in "Call Me the Breeze", followed by an extensive instrumental version of the classic "Free Bird." In 1987 Lynyrd Skynyrd returned to the scene for the second time, also at Volunteer Jam.
