Manuel Francisco Jiménez Ortiz


Manuel Francisco Jiménez Ortiz (Cartago, Costa Rica, 1892 - San José, Costa Rica, 1952) was a Costa Rican lawyer and politician.

He graduated with a degree in Law from the Costa Rican Law School.

He was a delegate from Costa Rica to the Central American Peace Conference of San Salvador (1907) and vice president of the Municipality of San José.

From 1917 to 1918 he was Secretary of Finance and Commerce, during the controversial regime of Federico Alberto Tinoco Granados.

From 1936 to 1937 he was secretary of External Relations and annexed portfolios. In 1942 he was appointed plenipotentiary minister of Costa Rica in Brazil.

He joined the Costa Rican Academy of Language in 1947 (chair E). He published the works The Universal Monarchy and The United Nations.
