The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is the international organization responsible for the Commonwealth Games, founded in 1932. History edit code

Due to the success of the first 1930 British Empire Games in Hamilton, Canada, a meeting of representatives of Britain, its colonies and territories decided that the Games, similar to the Olympic Games, would be held four years and an organizing committee would be created. After the 1932 Summer Olympics, it was decided to create the "British Empire Games Federation" which would be responsible for organizing the Empire Games. The name is changed in 1952, in "British Empire and Commonwealth Games Federation", and again in Jamaica in 1966 for "British Commonwealth Games Federation", until its current name since Christchurch, eb 1974 for "Commonwealth Games Federation".
