The Sphinx of Hetepheres II is a sculpture carved during the Ancient Egyptian Empire and is the oldest sphinx of all found to date.

Finding and history

The Sphinx was discovered among the ruins of the Pyramid of Dyedefra, located in Abu Roash, 9 km from the Egyptian town of Giza. The sphinx represents Hetepheres II, queen of Ancient Egypt, daughter of Cheops or Jufu and wife of Dyedefra, being one of the longest members of the fourth dynasty. Conservation characteristics
