Chelinga

The chelinga is a boat of about 10 or 12 meters in length by 3 of beam, which has the shape of a box topped at its ends by two conical projections and used on the Coromandel coast.

Its construction is very rudimentary, since all its framework is held by ropes and the interstices caulked with coconut mud. Do not spend frames, serving the pews. The crew bogán with gaonas and the boss directs the boat with a sort of pagaya. Even so, they are very useful, because the great hangover that reigns in those coasts, makes the access of boats and boats impossible and the chelingas do the service between the ships and the land, alternating with the catamarans.
