General José Hernández was a Mexican soldier who participated in the Mexican Revolution. He was born in San Rafael, municipality of Tlaquiltenango, Morelos. When the fight against Porfirio Díaz broke out, he joined the forces of Lorenzo Vázquez Herrera, with whom he remained throughout the war. It operated in the region of Los Hornos, Huautla and Pozo Colorado, place of great amount of combats in which it took part, ascending quickly, by the successes in a so conflicting place. He reached the rank of Brigadier General. In November 1914 he was a member of the Zapatista commission to the Aguascalientes Convention. On December 14, he was wounded when he attacked the city of Puebla on the way to San Nicolás Tolentino in the action of knives on the ladders; He was transferred to the Hacienda of Chinameca badly injured, so he died in it.
