Lorenzo Armengual de la Mota


Lorenzo Armengual del Pino y la Mota (Malaga, 1663 - Chiclana de la Frontera, 1730) was an ecclesiastic and Spanish man. Biography

Governor of the Treasury Council in three different periods during the reign of Philip V. Preceded bishop of Cadiz in 1715, took possession in 1717. Received the title of Marquis of Campo Alegre and the positions of royal captain and vicar general of the Royal Navy of the Ocean Sea. In 1722 placed the first stone of the new cathedral (present Cathedral of Cadiz); built the church of San Lorenzo, which consecrated in 1729.
