Mc Gill Clan


Mc Gill Clan was an Uruguayan rock band led by bassist Tony McGill.

History

Founded in the late 1960s by Tony McGill (bass), Alberto Magnone (organ), Mario Blanco (guitar), Ruben Malán (piano), José Luis Rodríguez (drums) and Adolfo Carbonaro ). The band went through several changes of integration, entering later Tomás "Chocho" Paolini (saxophone and flute), Jimmy in vocals and Aldo Caviglia instead of José Luis Rodríguez. Another member of the band was trombonist Pedro Linale. The band usually rehearsed at the Hot Club in Montevideo.

In 1969 McGill Clan recorded a pair of simple and long-lasting Orpheus label. His record production continues in 1970 with the release of several singles for the same label. That same year the group migrates to Spain. There they tried luck in Barcelona, ​​and due to the little success achieved, they settled in Madrid. In that city they made contact with Pedro Iturralde by means of which they managed to give concerts during 4 months in a chain of rooms. In one of these presentations they meet Sara Montiel, with whom they agree on a series of presentations for their ballroom that was located in Mallorca. These performances were extended for eight months and then in 1972, the band disbanded and each member went their own way. Discography LP Simple
