Surfing Soweto tells the story of a forgotten generation, that of Bitch Nigga, Lefa and Mzembe. They are three famous "surfers of trains" of Soweto and represent a generation of marginalized young people, who were born shortly after the abolition of apartheid, amid the promises that never materialized. Lacking the necessary knowledge and resources, they could not benefit from the newly acquired freedom. At Surfing Soweto, we not only see you on trains, avoiding electrical cables that can be lethal, but also in the privacy of homes with their families. Awards
