Meo (company)


Meo is the trademark of a quadruple-play subscription telecommunication service provided by Portugal Telecom (PT). The service can be done through ADSL2 available throughout Portugal, FTTH or satellite internet.

The service started as a pilot test in the city of Lisbon in 2006 and was subsequently expanded in Oporto and Castelo Branco, Portugal. The commercial launch of the ADSL2 + service was carried out in June 2007, and the satellite service was carried out in April 2008 operating on the satellite Hispasat, soon followed by the FTTH service.

The ADSL2 + and FTTH offers reach the various areas of Portugal and include broadband Internet services (up to 200Mbit / s currently) as well as telephone service.

There were plans to launch a new DVB-T digital service service also under the meo meo brand known as TDT.
