Montoneras del Perú


Montoneras del Perú refers to groups of guerrillas, made up of natives and mestizos, who began to act in the military phase, since 1820, of the War of Independence of Peru. Such remoquete of these moving bands placed the Spaniards, mainly by the fact of acting in droves, destroying or delaying the displacement of the realistic contingents by the mountainous areas of Peru.

José de San Martín had no difficulty in attracting adherents, as potential recruits swarmed to each of the places he passed.
