Spiridon Lámpros

Spiridon Lámpros

Spiridon Lámpros (Greek: Σπυρίδων Λάμπρος) (1851-1919) was a Greek politician. He was born in Corfu in 1851. He studied literature in Athens until 1871 before continuing his studies in Germany and obtaining a doctorate from the University of Leipzig.

In 1916, he accepted to form a government that only controlled the south of Greece; the north of the country and Crete were controlled by the Eleutherios Venizelos Government. In November of 1916, riots against the supporters of Vénizélos made several wounded. Then the French and British imposed a maritime blockade on Greece, forcing Lampros to resign in February 1917.
