Island of Mazarrón

The island of Mazarrón, also known simply as La Isla or La Islica is a Spanish island located in front of the Port of Mazarrón, in the Region of Murcia, Spain. Of round form and abrupt relief (8 hectares of surface).

Important colony of seabirds, especially seagulls and egrets; however, a local developer was trying to complete their development for tourist purposes, a project that did not take place (the only existing building is still an old mansion in the north of the island).

The island is protected within the space called Islands and Islets of the Mediterranean Coast of the Region of Murcia with the category of Natural Park

In its vicinity were two Phoenician ships sunk with all their cargo.
