Pendong Aban


Alfredo "Pendong" Aban C., Jr., artistically known as Pendong Aban. He is a singer-songwriter and Filipino musician, born June 5 in Buenavista, province of Agusan del Norte, on the island of Mindanao. He was an integral part of the Salt of the Earth group and was also one of the founders of the Asin musical band in the 1970s. He produced a record album entitled "Blue Christmas" (1988) list of musical themes that were successes such as "El Olvido Hero", "Esperanza", "Kalinga-in", "Siglo", "The question that I ask" and among others, that were written and composed by the same, a series of adaptations of traditional rhythms of his country. Thanks to his talent and artistic vocation, he has also excelled as an instrumentalist, as he plays the acoustic and electric guitar, as well as other native musical instruments, belonging to different branches of the indigenous peoples of the Philippines, such as faglong guitar of 2 strings and native of the island of Mindanao), the paldong (a flute that is played in the mountains) and the Kubing (a harp of mouth, made with bamboo woods). Later he was part of another band called "Ang Grupong Pendong", which produced two albums titled "Panahon" (1992) and "Dito sa Lupa" (1994). All his record production, were recorded and released under the labels of BMG Record-Pilipinas, Ivory Records, Vicor Music Corporation and among other independent labels.
