Reminder

Communion reminder. 1924

The reminders are small pictures that are given as a gift to those attending certain social celebrations.

The reminders are pieces of cardboard that are distributed on the occasion of events designated as baptisms, communions or funerals. The reminders are especially characteristic details of the first communion. In them, the name of the child is collected, the date and time of the celebration and the place where it took place. They are decorated with the image of a little angel or a similar image as well as other ornamental motifs. They are given to the attendees who keep them as a souvenir of the day.

Reminders are also typical gifts for guests at a baptism. In this case, they include the name of the baptized person as well as the date of the celebration. As in the previous case, they are usually decorated with an image in the center although, sometimes, the child's picture is also printed, and they are decorated with a border or other motif.

It is also common for reminders to be distributed among those attending a funeral as thanks for the support offered to the family, although this custom is being lost in the current generations.
