Santuario Takao

Takao Shrine (高雄 神社, Takao-jinja) was a Shinto shrine erected in 1912 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a city formerly called Takao. It was dedicated to the Japanese imperial prince Yoshihisa Kitashirakawa, to Ōmononushi no Mikoto and to the Emperor Sutoku.

It was raised in 1912, during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, under the name of Takao Kotohira (打狗 金刀 比 羅 神社), then simplified in Takao in 1920 and moved from its original location on a hill in 1928, after which received the category of kensha (県 社). In 1945 the Republic of China transformed it into a sanctuary dedicated to the martyrs of the city (in Chinese: 高雄市 忠烈祠 Gāoxióng shì zhōngličcí), which led to the demolition of most of the Japanese buildings in the 1970s for its rebuilding as a Chinese temple.
