Maisons-Laffitte Castle, or Château de Maisons, located in Maisons-Laffitte in the department of Yvelines (France) is considered as a masterpiece of civil architecture of the seventeenth century. The palace, built by François Mansart, was built between 1642 and 1646 on the orders of the noble René de Longueil. Louis XIV stayed at different times in the palace, which had a room prepared for the monarch.

In 1905 the French state purchased it to save it from demolition (some urban plans foresaw its demise) and today it is an historic monument managed by the Center of National Monuments. Architecture

The palace stands on a hill above the Seine. It is of rectangular plant delimited by two little pronounced wings and counts on three heights with superposition of orders.
