Gheriat esh-Shergia ("Eastern Village") is an ancient Roman centenary that was part of the Limes Tripolitanus.

The fortified farm of the third century, which is an exact copy of the centenarium at Qasr Banat, is included in the later Italian Fort Bacone. A good 25 km west of Gheriat esh-Shergia lies the castellum of Gheriat el-Garbia ("western village"). There is no sight line between the two locations, so that a signal tower was built on the intermediate hill. East of Gheriat esh-Shergia lies Ghirza. Literature
