The Playing at Home in Heath

The Landgoed Huis ter Heide is a nature reserve of the Nature Conservation Association. It is located between the places De Moer and Wage on Zand, northwest of Tilburg, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The size of the area is about 650 hectares.

The northern part of the area consists mainly of forest, while the southern part, called Loonse Heide, contains mostly friends and farms. The goal of Nature Monuments is to regain the pristine wet heath, as it was visible here in 1940. Flora and fauna such as the waterlobelia, the bell gan, the sun-dung, the heikikker and the vinpootsalamander can be found here. There are also Scottish highlanders, to provide a greater variety of vegetation.

The area contains a country house from 1864. The numerous ammunition storage complexes that were also laid in the area were cleared.

The toponyms: Galgeneind and Galgenbaan refer to the gallows field found here. Here the bodies were exhibited, among other things, by members of a gang who made the area of Wage on Sand unsafe in the 18th century.

It is the intention to implement the Plan Woudspoor, which will establish a connection between the Landgoed Huis ter Heide and the Loon and Drunen Dunes. Scottish Highlander at Huis ter Heide
