John Perry Barlow

John Perry Barlow (Jackson Hole, Wyoming, October 3, 1947) is a retired American poet, essayist, and rancher, and former lyricist for the Grateful Dead group. In 1969 he graduated in "comparative religion" at the Wesleyan University of Middletown (Connecticut). He is co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation along with two other digital rights activists, John Gilmore and Mitch Kapor. He is currently Vice President of the Foundation. He was president of the Republican Party of Sublette County (Wyoming) and a member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

His works include "Declaration of Cyberspace Independence" and "The Economy of Ideas".
