Manimes

The Manimes (in Latin: [Lygii] Manimi, in German: Manimer) were an ancient Germanic people cited at the end of the 1st century by the Roman historian Tacitus; it was one of the most powerful tribes of the Lygians.

"Because a long chain divides and cuts in two Suévie. Beyond this chain are a great number of nations, of which the most considerable is that of the Lygians, divided itself into many cities. It will be enough to name the most powerful, Aries, Helvecones, Manimes, Elysiens, Naharvales. "

- Tacitus, Germania, Mores of the Germans, XLIII. The Manimes were perhaps the same tribe as the one quoted by the Greek geographer Strabon as Atmonoi, which was a branch of the Bastarnes. Notes and edit the code Old sourcesedit the code
