Puranda


Puranda was a Bronze Age city located in Arzawa, western Anatolia, near the Astarpa River.

The city was attacked by the Hittite king Mursili II during his invasion of the country in the year 1322 BC. C .. The refugees who had fled from the neighboring cities Hursanassa, Suruda and Attarimma moved to Puranda. The prince of Arzawa Tapalazunawali, who had fought on the islands during the invasion, entered Puranda to lead the resistance against the Hittites.

Mursili II finally took the metropolis and the Tapalazunawali family was captured but he managed to escape. Bibliography
