Southern Gothic

Southern Gothic is a subgenre of the Gothic novel, mainly developed in the United States of America.

In this style, supernatural or strange elements appear to create the argument. Unlike the Gothic novel, this subgenre does not use such elements to create suspense, but to describe social issues and explore the culture of the southern United States.

Some writers who have cultivated this genre are William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote and Cormac McCarthy among others. Literature Films
