The Central Park Conservancy (literally "Central Park Safeguarding Committee") is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1980 to manage Central Park in New York, in collaboration with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (New York Parks and Recreation Department).
The operation of the organization is based on volunteering, although it also receives support from different foundations. To date, $ 350 million has been used to restore Central Park's role as Big Apple's lung.
