Figure team dancing is, as the name suggests, an Irish group dance.
The figure dances dance in ghillies only, and in traditional costume. Although they are competitive dances, they are often featured in shows, such as in Lord of the Dance or Riverdance. In competition, there are a large number of categories of figure dances: according to the age, the sex (mixed or exclusively feminine) and the number of dancers (8 or 16). We can say that they are the equivalent of ceilis, except that their choreography is created by the teacher or the choreographer.
