Home Video

It is called home video, home video or home movie to amateur movies. Since the beginning of this activity, home movies were recorded on photographic tapes, but over time the availability of video cameras and data storage devices have made this hobby easier and more accessible to ordinary people. The boundaries between the creation of videos for ordinary people and for professionals have become increasingly distorted, while the equipment of the prosumer becomes increasingly accessible to the individual consumer, offering features and possibilities that were previously only available to equipment operated by professionals.

In recent years amateur-recorded videos have been broadcast to mass audiences through programs like America's Funniest Home Videos and the YouTube video-sharing website. The latter, coupled with the popularity of the Internet and greater availability of faster connections, have provided new ways to share such videos, such as blogs and podcasting.
