Inlandsvägen is a Swedish term for a road running through the Swedish interior from south to north. The best known examples of an inland road are the Swedish part of the E45 from Gothenburg to Karesuando and the Riksväg 26 from Halmstad to Mora. Especially the E45 is widely used by tourists for their trek through Sweden and their way to the Northern Cape.
From Mora, the E45 inland road runs parallel to the Inlandsbanan, a tourist train that used to be used for freight transport (wood), but in summer it is usually driven by two trains a day (1 south, 1 north), but sometimes once per day. The road and the railroad have partly led to a part of the population living inland, because urbanization to the towns along the coast led to a drainage. Photo gallery
