Dunnet

The town focuses on the road junction between the A836 and the B855. The A836 leads to John or 'Groats in the east and to Thurso and Tongue in the west. The Cape of Dunnet (Dunnet Head) is one of the attractions of the area, since it is the northernmost point of the main island of Great Britain, and not John or 'Groats. In this cape there is a lighthouse that was built in the year 1831 by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of the writer Robert Louis Stevenson. In Cape Dunnet you can see Scottish cows, an endemic species on the north coast of Scotland. On the other hand, the area of ​​the bay (Dunnet Bay) is good for sighting birds like ducks haveldas, loons and puffins.
