Metro the Hangzhou


The Hangzhuo Metro (Chinese: 杭州 地铁) is the mass transportation system of the city-sub-province of Hangzhou capital of Zhejiang Province, PRC. Construction began in March 2006, and Line 1 was completed on November 24, 2012.

In opening Phase I, Hangzhóu became the 16th city of the People's Republic of China to have a rapid transit system. The first line, Line 1 has 48 kilometers in length and 30 stations. History

Planning a city metro system began in the 1990s and was about to begin construction in September 2003, but the State Council suspended construction due to costs. The State Council approved the planning of a rapid transit system on June 6, 2005. Hangzhou Metro Group Co. Ltd will build and operate the subway system in the eastern Chinese city.
