Indian Neighborhood (Leeuwarden)


The Indian Neighborhood is a neighborhood in Leeuwarden, adjacent to the Cambure Stadium and the Vliet. The Indian Neighborhood has about 1100 inhabitants.

The street names are named after Indonesian islands such as Sumatra, Borneo and the like. The houses in the Old Indies (east side) have been a hundred years old and were used as houses of factory workers at the Milk Factory near by. In the small houses, ordinary workers lived and in the larger houses dwelling attitudes. The Sumatra Street is the longest street in the neighborhood and consists of two parts: West and East.
