Jalaf ibn Rashid

Jalaf ibn Rashid was a lieutenant of Bahlul Ibn Marzuq, the rebel leader of Zaragoza, who conquered Huesca in the year 800.

Bahlul was defeated by the troops sent by the Spanish Vali and fled to Pallars. He was assassinated by Jalaf Ibn Rashid. The Andalusian government rewarded it with the government of Huesca and the Barbitaniya; rebuilt the city of Barbastro where the Roman city of Barbastur had been located.

Jalap had ruled Huesca for 60 years (802-82) when he was transferred to the Banu Qasi and was appointed governor Musa ben Galindo. His family, the Banu Jalaf continued as rulers of Barbitanya twenty years.
