Mero et mixto empire (or mixed empire) is a Latin phrase that refers to the delegation of the exercise of all political and legal power (civil and criminal) to a feudatario. The mere empire would be attributed the highest degree of jurisdiction, corresponding to public crimes. The one in which the power of the mere empire resided would have the capacity to impose the death penalty. The mixed empire was attributed a minor jurisdiction, within which would be the power to execute the sentences.
