Microsoft NetMeeting

Microsoft NetMeeting was a multipoint and VoIP video call client included in many versions of Microsoft Windows (from Windows 95 OSR2 to Windows XP). It uses the H.323 protocol to perform the conferences, making it interoperable with OpenH323-based clients such as Ekiga, as well as Internet Locator Service (ILS) as a reflector. It also uses a slightly modified version of the ITU T.120 protocol for electronic whiteboard, application sharing, desktop sharing, remote desktop sharing (RDS), and file transfers. The secondary electronic whiteboard in NetMeeting 2.1 and later uses the H.324 protocol. History

Before video service became commonplace with free instant messaging clients such as Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger, NetMeeting was a popular way to make video calls and Internet chat (with the help of ILS public servants). Since the release of Windows XP, Microsoft has deprecated it in favor of Windows Messenger, although it is still installed by default (Start> Run ... conf.exe). Note that Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger link directly to NetMeeting for folder sharing. Currently it is completely deprecated.
