Suzanne Cesbron-Viseur


Suzanne Cesbron-Viseur (May 24, 1879 - August 24, 1967) was a soprano and teacher of French singing.

She was a student of Pauline Viardot and wife of the singing teacher Georges Viseur, she belonged to the French diva group of the beginning of the century such as Marthe Nespoulous, Emma Luart, Gabrielle Ritter-Ciampi, Ninon Vallin Solage Renaux, Germaine Cernay, Alice Raveau, Solange Delmas, Germaine Martinelli, Jane Bourguigon, Jane Laval and Germaine Féraldy. Among her rivals were Marguerite Carre, Maggie Teyte, Fanny Heldy, Yvonne Gall and Jane Laval.

He debuted on January 24, 1902 at the Opéra-Comique as Griselidis followed by Charlotte, Louise, Manon, Tosca, Melisande, Madama Butterfly, Antonia and Giulietta in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann".

He made his debut at the Paris Opera in 1923 as well as Griselidis replacing Lucienne Bréval singing then Pamina from The Magic Flute and Marguerite from The Damnation of Faust. He interpreted, among others, Faust, Sapho, Thais, Le Cid and Les Huguenots.

She taught at the Paris Conservatory and among her most famous students were Germaine Lubin, Irène Joachim and Régine Crespin
