Analytical introspection is a method of examining the mind by naming all kinds of associations one had in a stimulus. The method was often used by Wilhelm Wundt's psychological school of structuralism, considered by many as the first real psychological school. Analysis

The structuralists did not see consciousness as a continuous flow. According to them, consciousness consisted of sections. With analytical introspection, they tried to discover which parts were, by allowing individuals to list their sensory observations they encountered during a stimulus.
