Guille Forteza


Guillem Forteza Pinya (Palma de Mallorca 1892-1943) was an architect and Spanish politician who was notable for the projection of a large number of schools in Mallorca from 1921 to the Second Republic.

His training took place in Barcelona, ​​where he was professor of the School of Arts and Crafts between 1925-1930 and in 1933 was appointed municipal architect of Palma.

His works at first have been classified within currents with nouveau and classic influences.

Fortitude above all is remembered as the school architect, task where it evolves towards more rationalistic positions.

In the political sphere presided the Regionalist Center of Mallorca between 1917-1919. Then it was passed to the Liberal Party, dominated by Juan March, being mayor of Palma in 1923.
