Fames is the Roman goddess of hunger. She is equated with Ethon of Greek mythology.

According to Ovid, she and Demeter, being totally opposed, can not meet. Thus, when Demeter asked him to punish Erysichthon, the goddess of the crops had to send a nymph to meet Fames. It would then live in an icy desert, in Scythia, where would also be Cold, Shiver and Pallor. According to Virgil she lived in Hades in the company of Poverty. Fames is portrayed as an old woman who only has skin on her bones and searches the ground for food.
