Nat Ma Taung is in a wooded ecoregion called Chin Hills-Arakan Yoma of 29,700 km², formed by lower elevations covered with subtropical moist forest. The highlands of the mountain form what is called an island of the sky, isolated from the lowlands and with a completely different climate, with species typical of the Himalayas and many endemisms.

In 1994, the Nat Ma Taung National Park or Mount Victoria National Park (နတ်မတောင် အမျိုးသား ဥ ယျာဉ်) was created around 720 km² and aims to protect the mountain. Links of interest
