Park Alijadores


Parque Alijadores was a baseball stadium that was located in the city of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. It housed baseball of the Mexican League from 1937 to 1979.

The stadium was built of wood with capacity for 7,000 fans and was inaugurated in 1927 between two games with a team from San Antonio, Texas, being home to the Alijadores de Tampico in its two stages in the league. The park had the peculiarity that it was crossed by railroad tracks in the gardens, so the party had to be suspended when the railway announced its passage.

In 1955 the stadium was destroyed by Hurricane Hilda, so it was rebuilt but this time in concrete. In 1975 the Alijadores were crowned champions of the Mexican League of Baseball before the Coffee Growers of Cordoba. Los Alijadores played until the season of 1979, in 1983 returned a equipment to the city with the name of Astros of Tamaulipas but they played in the Stadium Angel Castro.
